Most of the high resolution photographs featured on this site were taken by Rob van Dort, a senior master at Wanganui Collegiate School in New Zealand.

A geography teacher, sports coach and outdoor enthusiast, Rob is a self-taught photographer with a natural flair behind the lens. He has an uncanny ability to capture a student’s individual characteristics and emotions, and he enjoys experimenting with the effects of different degrees of light and focus.

Many of Rob’s original prints grace the homes and albums of former pupils fortunate enough to have crossed paths with his trusty Canon camera.

In 2009 Rob published a superb collection of photographs entitled ‘For the Sake of the Black and Blue’ – an anthology of images taken in and around Wanganui Collegiate School. Proceeds from sales of the book have been donated to help fund a Chapel memorial to celebrate the Centenary of the School on its current site.

Rob is married to Sue – an enthusiastic, talented, learning styles teacher – and they have two teenage daughters. In his limited spare time, Rob enjoys a range of pursuits including tramping, fishing, rugby and cricket.
