Introductory and Full-day Workshops


Option 1: ‘Learning in Style’ – An Introduction to Learning Styles


Purpose: Introduces the Dunn and Dunn learning-style model and develops staff awareness of individual teaching and learning styles
Time: Half-day (am, pm or evening) – ideal for a staff professional development session. NB: Shorter (1.5 - 2hr) introductory seminars are available and are especially suitable for business groups or parent evenings.
For: All teaching/business staff and management. Excellent for students and for parent evenings.
Content: Overview of Dunn and Dunn learning-style model. Benefits of learning-style approaches.
Recommended: Staff may complete an online learning-style inventory prior to or following this seminar. (Additional ILSN charge applies for inventories.)

Option 2: ‘Learning in Style’ – An Introduction to Learning Styles

‘Making a Difference’ – Mini Workshop: Creating Tactile Learning Resources


Purpose: Introduces the Dunn and Dunn model, develops staff awareness of individual learning styles and teaches staff how to create excellent learning-style materials for students to use or copy.
Time: Full day

Content: Overview of Dunn and Dunn learning-style model. Benefits of learning-style approaches to teaching and learning. Practical, easy, multi-sensory applications for busy teachers and parents.

Option 3: ‘Schools with Style’ – Full-day or Two-day Introductory Package

 

Includes a combination of the following:
‘Building Excellence’ – Facilitation of online adult learning-style assessments for teachers (Additional ILSN charge applies for inventories)
‘Learning in Style’ – An Introduction to Learning Styles
‘Well Schooled’ – Practical school-wide learning styles implementation strategies
'Making a Difference' – Mini Workshop: Creating tactile learning resources or ‘Making the Most of It’ – Expanded workshop: Producing tactile and kinesthetic resources

Purpose: Comprehensively introduces the Dunn and Dunn model, develops staff awareness of individual learning styles, explores the means for creating a school-wide learning-style culture and teaches staff how to create a wide range of excellent learning-style resources for students to use and copy.
Time: Full day or two days
For: All teaching staff and management
Content: Overview of Dunn and Dunn learning-style model. Benefits of learning-style approaches to teaching and learning. Effective school-wide practices. Expanded range of practical, easy, self-correcting tactile or multi-sensory applications for busy teachers.

NB: ‘Leading in Style’, a half- or full-day leadership module for lead teachers, is available by request.

Additional Pick ‘n’ Mix Mini Workshops for Teachers

 

The following mini workshops may be delivered as stand-alone sessions (great for after-school staff PD sessions!) or in combination with other options. We recommend that your staff complete an introductory workshop and tactile resource workshop first. Our team will work closely with you to tailor a training and resource package to meet your needs.
 

Option 4: ‘Team Tactics’ – Small-Group Instructional Strategies

Time: 1.5 hours or half-day
For: All teaching staff
Content: Inclusive strategies for determining prior knowledge, introducing new and challenging information and conducting formative assessments or post-tests.

Option 5: ‘CAP it Off’ – Multi-sensory Contract Activity Packages (CAP)

 

Teachers and Students love these!

Purpose: Enhances and simplifies planning for class work, homework and assessments by incorporating multi-sensory activity alternatives that address students’ individual needs
Time: 1.5 hours or half-day
For: All teaching staff
Content: Introduction to Contract Activity Packages and their benefits for teachers and students. Includes opportunity to design a CAP related to a current or future unit of work.

Option 6: ‘Thinking Inside the Box’ – Multi-sensory Instructional Packages (MIP)

Time: Half-day
For: All teaching staff
Content: Introduction to Multi-sensory Instructional Packages and their benefits for
teachers and students. Includes opportunity to design a MIP related to a current or future unit of work.

Option 7: ‘Yes, PLeaSe’ – Programmed Learning Sequences (PLS)

Time: Half-day
For: All teaching staff (Special appeal for Learning Support staff)
Content: Introduction to Programmed Learning Sequences and their benefits for teachers and students. Includes opportunity to design a PLS related to a current or future unit of work.
